About Us-Equine Sports Massage & McTimoney-Corley Spinal Therapy

About Us

I started working with horses in a small family run racing yard at the age of 14 years old.  I got my first horse at 16 and competed in Riding Club shows and Showjumped with the SJAI for a number of years jumping novice to ABC level.  I have worked in the horse industry for 30 yrs, breaking mostly Thoroughbreds, exercising same and I was head girl in two racing yards.

In 2002 I broke my leg badly while riding out.  Once the cast was off I went for Physical Therapy (Massage).  I found  massage helped to strengthen the leg and I knew how much this therapy helped to speed up my recovery from the injury than letting the leg heal by itself.

I decide to look into massge for Horses.  I worked in a racing yard for 15 months as head girl. I expressed interest in learning "hands on" massage for horses and was given permission to practice and develop my massage techniques on 30 or more horses.  Some horses required therapy before and after exercise to improve their movement, performance and reduce the risk of injury.

I completed a Certificate course with Coreen Kelly of the Western Montana School of Equine Massage and have been massaging horses since July 2005.  In August 2009, I qualified as a McTimoney-Corley Spinal Therapist with  Oxford College of Equine Physical Therapy (OCEPT) in Witney, England.

I qualified as a Human McTimoney-Corley Spinal Therapist in September 2012.  I studied at the Witney College of Spinal Therapy under the auspices of the Association of McTimoney-Corley Spinal Therapists.

I started riding at the age of 10 in riding schools and at 18 got my first horse and started competing in Riding Club shows.  I brought on young horses from novice up to AB level as well as obtaining my BHSAI exams and taught in local riding schools and giving  private lessons.

As with most riders we take falls along the way and I required  treatment myself so I was aware of the benefits of massage.  I became very interested in massge for horses through seeing the amazing reactions and results with Joyce so I did Coreen Kelly's course in July 2007 and furthered my studies with  a 2 year diploma course at the Institute of Complementary Animal Therapies (ICAT) in England. This course entailed developing massage techniques with many case studies, Anatomy and Physiology, Horse health, dissertation and Business plan.

I continued with my studies and completed a diploma course in 2011 with ITEC in Human Holistic Massage and a further year to qualify in Sports Massage in June 2012.
